You have a skirmish mode let you play against a computer either you can play for command points or you can play the total annihilation and also you can play online against real components. You have one campaign mode I don't know how many levels there are yet as I've only got to level 6 so far.
Also I find that even within the battle maps it does seem that the AI is trying to force you down a predetermined route.Īll in all though, if you don't mind following a predetermined campaign sequence then in all other ways this game plays very well and is great fun.Ĭompany of heroes is an RTS game set in World War II where you play as America against Germany. Players of the Total War series will understand what I mean, and the idea of applying the Total War approach to COH would open up all kinds of different parameters to explore. However, I wonder if it would not have been better if the player were allowed to choose their own routes through the campaign and therefore the order of battle sequences. Covering as it does the Normandy landing and the subsequent campaign thie approach taken within the game may seem inevitable. The real gripe I have is that the campaign game is so fixed. So the game requires that the player apply a good of understanding of mission strategy - your teams must be supplied and equipped properly for the battles they fight etc. The emphasis in COH is on team play where you play the role of team commander (rather than a FPS like Call of Duty or MOH series).
I do like this game, and the graphics are excellent.
